# Send a playbook from Reel comments

Use this workflow for an offer such as “Comment GRIND and I’ll send you the playbook.” It sends your saved text and link. It does not need an AI provider.

## Choose the campaign

Open **Workflows → Templates → Send a playbook by private message**. You can also choose **Automate replies…** from a comment in Inbox to preselect its account and post.

1. Select the Instagram account. Enable Comments and grant the account’s required comment permissions before activating the workflow.
2. Choose a specific post or Reel, including a scheduled OpenPost post. Imported Instagram posts are also available. Use **All available posts** only when the same offer applies across that account.
3. Enter the keyword or phrases, separated by commas. Matching ignores capitalization. The default matches whole words or phrases, so `GRIND` matches “grind please” and does not match “grinding”.
4. Write the private message, including the promised resource link. This first private reply supports text and links, not uploaded attachments or a multi-message sequence.
5. Optionally write a public acknowledgement. Leave it empty to send only the private message. OpenPost runs this step only after Instagram accepts the private reply.
6. Choose **Send automatically** or **Review in Inbox**. Preview stored matching comments, then create the workflow draft.

The draft opens in the workflow editor. Inspect its trigger and separate private and public reply steps, then select **Publish workflow** to activate it. Creating, saving, and previewing the draft do not send replies.

## Narrow the trigger

Open **Configure** in the comment trigger to exclude keywords, choose whole-word, exact, or contains matching, change the daily run limit, or adjust reply priority. Lower priority numbers run first when multiple reply workflows match. Equal priorities use the oldest workflow. A new-comment workflow that performs other actions can still run independently.

Only comments created and first collected after activation start runs. Existing comments, imports of historical comments, edits, and the account’s own replies do not start another run. Reactivating a paused comment workflow starts with future comments again.

Comment delivery follows the account’s existing collection and webhook setup. A workflow does not make polling-only accounts instant. Instagram comments on media published outside OpenPost require the comments webhook; signed events are stored in the same Inbox inventory.

## Review or take over

Inbox shows the automatic reply’s state and links to the workflow run. Expand a reply waiting for review to edit its exact text and approve it. Workspace administrators activate workflows and approve automated replies; editors can take over and answer manually.

**Take over** stops pending automatic replies for that comment. Sending a manual reply also stops pending automation there. **Pause new runs** leaves existing runs active. **Stop automatic replies** on a comment workflow stops new runs and pending sends. Replies already being sent may still arrive.

Failed and uncertain sends remain inspectable. OpenPost does not automatically repeat an uncertain provider write, and a failed private send does not post “Sent!”.

## Instagram limits

A comment permits one private reply within seven days. Sending it does not open the normal messaging window. Further messages require a qualifying response from the person. Messages may appear in their Requests folder. Provider approval, account permissions, and rate limits still apply.

OpenPost also limits private campaigns to one send per person per post across matching workflows. `STOP`, `unsubscribe`, and `stop replying` comments suppress future automatic responses to that author on the same account. Public replies remain bound to the original comment and account.

See [Meta’s private-reply documentation](https://developers.facebook.com/documentation/instagram-platform/private-replies) for provider requirements. This template does not include follower gates, email capture, reminders, or automatic follow-up DMs.

## Other comment templates

- **Share a requested resource** sends a saved public reply.
- **Answer product questions** uses approved product information. Choose review or automatic sending; questions outside that information are handed off to Inbox.
- **Reply waiting for review** prepares a saved response for approval.
- **Flag support requests** brings matching comments to a person without posting a generic acknowledgement.

Automatic X replies are unavailable. Use manual Inbox replies there. First comments on your own published posts remain in destination settings; the existing follow-up workflow remains separate from incoming-comment campaigns.
