Formats and limits

## Different formats, different rules.

OpenPost checks the text and media rules for the format you choose.

| Format | Text | Media |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Post, thread, or link | 280 standard · up to 25,000 subscribed | Text only |
| Image post | 280 standard · up to 25,000 subscribed | 1-4 JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF images |
| Video | 280 standard · up to 25,000 subscribed | 1 MP4 or QuickTime video |

### Provider limits and scope

- 280 weighted characters for standard accounts
- Up to 25,000 weighted characters for verified Basic, Premium, or Premium+ accounts
- Video: 140 seconds and 512 MiB standard; up to 4 hours and 16 GiB subscribed
- Up to 4 images or 1 MP4 video
- Your X API plan and limits still apply

Connect and test

## Set up X in three checks.

1. Configure the X client ID, secret, and the exact OpenPost callback URL.
1. Enable OAuth 1.0a user authentication in the X developer portal.
1. Connect the X account from Social accounts, then publish a small test post.

Known limits

## What can still block a post.

- OpenPost uses standard limits when X cannot verify a connected account subscription tier.
- Media publishing needs OAuth 1.0a access-token and secret pairs.
- Polls, quote posts, and other format settings remain subject to the account API tier.

**Account requirement:** An X developer app with OAuth 1.0a user authentication enabled.

**Verification:** Check OAuth, account limits, and each post type you plan to use.

## Use the current callback address, permissions, and media setup.

Social network developer pages change. The OpenPost guide lists the settings and checks you need now.
