Color, motion, and effects

Change the look of a clip and animate visual layers.

Select a clip, then open Color, Motion, or Effects for the change you want to make.

Adjust color

  1. Open Color and select a clip or sequence grade.
  2. Start with a preset or adjust primaries, wheels, and curves. Scopes show light and color levels. You can sample a neutral, black, or white point from the preview.
  3. Compare Before, After, or Split, then play the edited passage.

Copy a grade between clips or save it as a preset. Use one sequence grade for a change across the whole edit.

Animate a layer

Open Motion to animate text, shapes, images, video, or supported effects:

  1. Create or open a composition.
  2. Set a keyframe for the property you want to change.
  3. Move the playhead and change the value to create the next keyframe.
  4. Play the range. Use the Dope Sheet to change timing or Graph view to adjust easing.

For example, place a title off screen at its first position keyframe. Move one second forward and place it where it should stop. Play the entrance and adjust its timing.

Add effects or transitions

Open Effects in the left panel. Select a clip and add a preset, or drag a preset onto timeline clips. In the inspector, reorder, disable, remove, reset, or keyframe supported parameters. Save the current stack as a preset to reuse it.

Use an adjustment layer to apply an effect or grade to several clips below it. Play the full transition before exporting.
