OpenPost vs Hootsuite: founder workflow or social team?

By OpenPost · Reviewed

Choose Hootsuite when a social team needs approvals, customer-care routing, and reporting across departments. Evaluate OpenPost when a founder needs to record, edit, adapt, and publish their own work from one workspace. The tools overlap in publishing, but serve different operating needs.

When Hootsuite is the better fit

Hootsuite Advanced offers content approvals, message assignment and routing, and team performance reporting. Standard covers ten social accounts and unlimited scheduling subject to its terms. Professional adds unlimited accounts and more automation. These can matter more than editing tools to a dedicated social team.

Hootsuite costs and limits

Hootsuite's plans FAQ lists USD rates starting at $99 per user/month for Standard and $199 for Professional, ranging up to $399 for Advanced. Enterprise has custom pricing. Monthly and annual billing differ; confirm the selected plan, term, seats, and total at checkout. These starting rates are not a promise of month-to-month billing.

OpenPost Hosted costs and limits

Prices are in USD before tax. Limits apply separately to each workspace. Hosted signups are currently on a waitlist while the remaining platform approvals are completed. Check admission and your exact account and format before choosing a plan.

  • All Hosted plans include the same tools. The 14-day trial requires a card; $0 is due at checkout when admission is open.
  • A scheduled post counts once across its destinations and thread segments. Monthly allowances reset by calendar month in UTC. Provider quotas can impose further limits.
  • Self-hosting has no software fee. Budget separately for infrastructure, backups, storage, provider API use, and maintenance.

When OpenPost is the better fit

OpenPost suits a creation-heavy workflow: record a demonstration, edit the video, make a supporting image, and adapt one idea for different accounts. Workflows can prepare content for review. Self-hosting is also available. Test the inbox and analytics your accounts expose, rather than assuming enterprise reporting or customer-care parity.

Check the workflow beyond scheduling

Try a real review, a failed delivery, and an inbox conversation. Compare who can approve, who sees the failure, and which outcomes are available. Include every paid seat in Hootsuite's cost. OpenPost Hosted admission is currently on a waitlist.
