Create and publish

Write, review, and publish destination-specific versions of a post.

Choose New post in the workspace where you want to publish. Select the connected accounts, then write the update you want to share. For example, you can start with one launch announcement and give its LinkedIn and X versions different openings. Each selected account gets its own destination version, called a variant.

Start with Ideate

Choose Ideate from More or the composer. On web it opens a dialog, so you can close it and return to your work while generation continues. Reopen Ideate to inspect the result.

Enter a launch, update, lesson or idea. Add source material and choose connected accounts. Generate options gives you alternative versions of one post. Edit the option you want, then use it in the composer or save it as a separate draft. Nothing publishes automatically.

For several complementary posts, select Create a series, then Plan series. OpenPost proposes up to three concepts with source evidence. A short source may produce fewer. Edit each concept's title and direction, select the concepts you want, then choose Generate selected posts. Open each generated post to edit it, or choose Save selected drafts. A variant is still one account's version of a post; series items are separate posts.

Make each destination ready

Open each destination in the composer and adjust its text, format, media, and provider settings. Check the account, text, and file order in the preview. A file or format that works for one provider may not work for another. If the composer flags a limit or required field, fix that destination before publishing.

Save a draft or write a thread

If the post needs another pass, leave it as a draft. The composer saves draft changes while you work; wait for its saved indicator, then find the post under Publications → Drafts. For a thread, add segments in reading order, then preview the whole sequence for each destination.

Mention people and company pages

To reuse someone across networks, type @ in All and choose Add mention. Give the entry a name, then set the text or handle for each network. For a supported native tag, search through a connected account and select a result. Choose Save and insert to add it to your post and save it for later.

The next time you type @ in All, choose the saved entry. Each destination uses its configured mapping. A network without a mapping keeps the mention name as ordinary text. Editing or deleting a saved entry affects future insertions only. To manage an entry, choose Add mention and select its name. Saved entries are also available in the shared mobile editor; create and edit the library in the web app.

Open an account's version, type @ followed by at least two characters, then choose a matching account. On mobile, open Social Set, choose Edit beside the account, and write in its account version.

Bluesky supports people, Mastodon searches accounts through the connected instance, and LinkedIn looks up a company page by its exact vanity name. Availability depends on the connected account's permissions. Search failures show a recovery message; they do not mean there are no matching accounts.

Choose identities separately for each network. Selecting a suggestion keeps that provider's account identity with the visible text through draft saves, thread parts and later edits. Editing inside a selected mention turns it into ordinary text; undo restores its selection. A qualified Mastodon address can also mention someone when typed as plain text, because Mastodon recognizes the address itself.

Bold, italic and other rich formatting are not available in this editor yet.

Polls

Choose Add poll below the post text, then enter a question, answers and voting duration. Introductory post text is optional. The poll shows how many selected destinations can receive a native poll.

Under Poll versions, choose what each account receives:

  • Native poll uses the shared question and answers.
  • Custom poll lets a compatible account use different poll content.
  • Text version appends the question and numbered answers as ordinary text. Expand its preview or choose Customize post text to edit that account's version.
  • Post without poll keeps that account's post text and media without the poll.

You can also exclude an account from the post. OpenPost does not choose a fallback or remove accounts automatically. Fix native poll conflicts, such as media attachments or an answer exceeding an account's limit, before publishing. Drafts can save while choices are unfinished.

Each thread segment can have its own poll. Destinations that combine a thread into one post need text versions or explicit omissions. Older account-specific polls remain available in that account's settings.

Media

Upload files in the composer or choose an existing file from Media. If a video needs trimming or captions, prepare it in the Video Editor or Quick Cut, then attach the finished export. Check the media requirements shown for every selected account before you send.

Turn text into an image

New Instagram and Pixelfed destinations turn text-only posts into image cards automatically. A small notice in the composer explains the conversion. Dismissing it hides the notice; it does not disable conversion. Existing posts keep their saved behavior.

Choose Customize card to review the image and change Text as image:

  • Only text posts creates a card when there are no attachments.
  • Text card before attachments puts the card first, followed by the original images or videos in order. The arrow on the card points to the next slide.
  • Off keeps native media requirements in place.

Expand Customize card for light or dark appearance, rounded corners, shadow, and a solid, gradient, or mesh background. The connected account supplies the profile image, name, and handle. Text stays in the caption too. Longer text can use multiple cards; cards and attachments all count toward the destination's media limit. Shorten the text or remove attachments if validation flags the total.

Use Destination format to choose Instagram Feed or Story. Story cards use a vertical canvas. Cards do not create Reels, and the destination still checks its supported attachment types and limits. Pixelfed video support depends on the instance.

To reuse a style, open an Instagram or Pixelfed account's default settings while creating or editing a Social Set. Save the set, then select it for new posts. Changing the set does not restyle existing drafts or scheduled posts.

Check the destination preview before scheduling. Reopened posts show the saved card image; editing the text or style updates it when the post saves.

Schedule and calendar

In the composer, choose Schedule, pick a date and time, and check the timezone shown in the dialog before saving. The post stays Scheduled until OpenPost queues it for delivery.

Open Publications → Calendar to check where the post landed. Use week view to inspect times or month view to see a wider plan. Open the post if you need to check its destinations or make a change.

Schedule several drafts

In Posts → Drafts, choose Select drafts, select up to 20 posts, then Schedule selected. You can also schedule selected saved drafts from a series.

Choose a date range and either workspace posting slots or a time and interval. Select Preview dates. Check each post's exact date, the timezone, and any blocked items. Adjust a proposed date or deselect a post without moving the other dates. Saved dates are kept. Posts with destination-specific timing need individual scheduling, and posts from one series stay on separate days.

Choose Confirm remaining dates to schedule the ready items. If some fail, read their messages and retry. Successful items keep their dates and are not scheduled twice. Previewing dates alone creates no delivery jobs.

Delivery states

The post and its destinations can show Scheduled, Queued, Publishing, Published, or Failed. After delivery starts, check the post in Publications instead of treating its calendar slot as proof it published. For partial delivery, retry only the failed destination as described above.

Change a schedule

Open a scheduled post to change its date or time. You can also drag a scheduled item to another future slot in Calendar; the drop saves the new time. Published items cannot be moved this way. Check the new slot or reopen the post to confirm the change. If Calendar rejects the move, read its message and choose a future time.

Publish and check delivery

Choose Publish now when every destination is ready, or schedule the post for later. Open the post in Publications and check its destination cards. A published destination can link to the post on its provider; a failed one shows a reason and, when retry is available, a Retry action. Fix the cause first. If LinkedIn published but X failed, fix the X error and retry X. Do not create another post to resend both.

After delivery, use Inbox for supported comments and messages, and Analytics for performance. A blank measurement does not mean publishing failed.
